Maya’s Montessori, Inc. ("Maya’s Montessori," "we," "us," or "our") runs the website at www.mayasmontessori.com and the free email guides you can sign up for there. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. We wrote it to be read, not to hide things.
What we collect
Information you give us.
When you take the quiz or sign up for emails, you give us:
- your email address;
- your child’s birthday, which you enter so we can match materials to their stage and, in the future, time the tips we send as your child grows (if you’re expecting, you don’t enter a date);
- the parenting challenge you select; and
- anything else you choose to send us, for example when you email us.
Information we collect automatically.
When you visit the site, we and our analytics provider automatically collect standard technical data: your device and browser type, your IP address, the pages you view and links you click, the site or campaign that referred you (for example a "src" or "utm_source" tag), and similar information collected through cookies and comparable technologies.
Session recordings.
We use a product-analytics tool (PostHog) that can record your interactions with the site, including mouse movement, clicks, scrolling, page navigation, browser console logs, and on-screen canvas content. These recordings help us understand how the site is used and fix problems. Text you type into form fields, including your email, is masked in these recordings by default.
How we use your information
We use what we collect to:
- send you the welcome email series and any updates you signed up for;
- tailor the material recommendations to your child’s stage;
- operate, secure, measure, and improve the site;
- respond when you contact us; and
- comply with the law and protect our rights and our users.
Cookies and tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies for two purposes: to keep our analytics working (for example, a randomly generated visitor ID so we don’t double-count you) and to remember the campaign that first brought you to the site. We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles or to follow you around the web. When you click an Amazon product link, Amazon may set its own cookie so it can credit a resulting purchase to us. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings, and the site will still work.
The services we rely on
We share the minimum necessary data with a small set of vendors that process it on our behalf. Each name links to that vendor’s privacy policy:
- Supabase hosts the database that stores your sign-up details.
- Resend delivers our emails and manages the subscriber list and the welcome sequence.
- PostHog provides product analytics and session recording, processed in the United States.
- Vercel hosts the website, keeps standard server logs, and provides privacy-friendly traffic analytics.
- Cloudflare Turnstile protects the quiz form from spam and bots.
- Amazon Associates lets us earn a commission when you click a product link and buy. Amazon may set its own cookie to credit the purchase.
We do not sell your personal information to any of them, and they are not permitted to use it for their own marketing.
Affiliate disclosure
Maya’s Montessori is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. When you buy through a product link on our site or in our emails, we may earn a commission. It never changes the price you pay, and we only link to things we would recommend regardless.
Email and your choices
The welcome series and any newsletters are marketing emails: every one includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time. The first email, confirming your quiz, is a transactional reply to your sign-up. If you unsubscribe, we stop sending marketing email but may keep a minimal record so we can honor your choice.
Do we sell or share your information?
No. We do not sell your personal information for money, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising (targeted ads that follow you across other sites). If you would like to limit our analytics, you can block cookies in your browser or email us. Where applicable, we treat recognized browser opt-out preferences, such as Global Privacy Control, as a valid request to opt out.
Your privacy rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we hold about you;
- correct or update it;
- delete it; and
- stop sending you marketing email.
To make a request, email support@mayasmontessori.com. We may need to verify your identity before we act, and we will respond within the time the law requires.
California residents.
California’s privacy laws (the CCPA, as amended by the CPRA) give you the rights above plus the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and to limit the use of sensitive personal information. In the past 12 months we have collected these categories of personal information: identifiers (such as your email address and IP address), internet and device activity (such as pages viewed), coarse geolocation (a U.S. state, derived from a ZIP code, which an earlier version of our quiz collected), and inferences (such as your child’s developmental stage). We collect it from you directly and automatically as described above, use it for the purposes described above, and do not sell it. You can exercise any of these rights by emailing us, and we will not discriminate against you for doing so.
Children’s privacy
This site and our emails are made for parents and caregivers, who are adults. They are not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. The information about your child, such as their age or stage, is provided by you. If you believe a child has given us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
How long we keep your information
We keep your sign-up information for as long as you are subscribed and for a reasonable period afterward, then delete or anonymize it. Analytics data is retained according to our providers’ standard retention periods. You can ask us to delete your information sooner at any time.
How we protect your information
We use reasonable safeguards, including encryption in transit and reputable processors, to protect your information. No website or internet transmission is ever completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Where your information is processed
We are based in the United States and process your information here. If you visit from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be processed in the United States.
Links to other sites
Our site and emails link to other places, including Amazon and our social channels. Once you follow a link off our site, this policy no longer applies, so please read the privacy policy of wherever you land.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above, and for significant changes we may add a notice on the site or email you. Please check back from time to time.
